Day-by-Day Itinerary

DAY 1 – Agadir → Taroudant → Taliouine → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley

Your private driver will pick you up in the morning in Agadir. You’ll travel through the fertile Souss Valley toward Taroudant, known for its ancient city walls and traditional souks. Continue through the Anti-Atlas mountains and the saffron fields of Taliouine before reaching Ouarzazate — the famous desert gateway and location for many films. After a short stop, you’ll follow the scenic Road of Thousand Kasbahs into the stunning Dades Valley with its dramatic rock formations and emerald palm groves.

Overnight: Hotel or riad in Dades Valley

After breakfast, depart Dades Valley toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon with towering rock walls rising above a shaded riverbed. You will have time to walk and take photos. Continue east and cross desert plains toward the town of Erfoud, famous for ancient fossils. In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here you will switch to camels and ride across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your desert camp for sunset.

Overnight: Desert camp in Erg Chebbi (Merzouga)

Wake up early for an incredible Sahara sunrise over the dunes. Return by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga village after breakfast. Today you will explore the surrounding desert region, possibly visiting Khamlia (Gnawa music village) and nomadic settlements. You’ll experience wide desert landscapes and learn about local cultures. The afternoon is relaxed, allowing you to recharge after two long travel days.

Overnight: Hotel or desert lodge in Merzouga

After breakfast, leave the desert behind and begin your drive westward. Stop in Rissani (a historic Saharan market town) and continue through Alnif, known for dramatic desert landscapes. Arrive in Nkob — a village with traditional kasbah clusters — before entering the longest oasis in Morocco: Draa Valley, lined with lush palm groves. In the late afternoon, continue to Ouarzazate.

Overnight: Riad or hotel in Ouarzazate

On this day, visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah beloved by filmmakers. Continue your journey through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. You’ll stop for scenic views and photos along the way, then arrive in Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most exciting cities.

Overnight: Riad in Marrakech

Today you enjoy a guided city tour in Marrakech. Visit some of the most iconic sites: Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, and the vibrant souks of the Medina. Experience Jemaa el-Fna square with its storytellers, musicians, and food stalls before your tour concludes.
