Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt

Depart Fes in the morning through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, a clean Alpine-style town often called “Little Switzerland.”
Continue to Azrou Cedar Forest to see Barbary monkeys, then through mountain villages to Midelt, known for its apple orchards and fresh air.
Overnight: Kasbah hotel in Midelt.

After breakfast, drive south through the Ziz Gorges and lush Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views of palm oases and kasbah villages.
Arrive in Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara. Mount your camel for a sunset trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Dinner and Amazigh music by the fire under a sky filled with stars.
Overnight: Luxury Sahara camp (ensuite tent).

Wake to sunrise over the dunes and explore the desert by 4×4 or on foot:

  • Visit Khamlia Village for Gnawa music and mint tea

  • Meet nomadic families in their tents

  • Visit the fossil fields and desert oasis of Hassilabied
    Optional quad biking or sandboarding before sunset.

After breakfast, begin the drive back to Fes through the mountains. Stop in small villages and local markets for photos and tea.
Arrive in Fes by evening, where your driver drops you off at your riad or airport.
